David McGhee

Coach McGhee is entering his 10th year as a varsity baseball coach, his 5th season as varsity assistant at South Grand Prairie High School.

While serving as the hitting coach at SGP, the Warriors have improved their offensive production every year. Under Coach McGhee’s guidance several Warriors have entered the record books for single season batting average, hits, runs, doubles, triples, homeruns, and runs batted in. The team batting averages have also improved .282 (2016), .322 (2017), .293 (2018), and .309 (2019).

Prior to his arrival at South Grand Prairie, McGhee was hitting coach and outfield coach and helped turn around North Crowley High School from 4 consecutive seasons of 20 losses. He helped to lead North Crowley to their first winning season and playoff berth since 2007.  Under Coach McGhee’s guidance, North Crowley hitters rewrote the offensive record books setting records in every individual, team and career stats for the school. Coach McGhee also spent time at Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA, where he helped them rise to a competitive program finishing with a 33 power ranking in Louisiana and the district MVP on a 2nd place team. Coach McGhee also coached hitters at Grace Christian School in Alexandria, LA where helped to lead them to a 20 win season and a playoff berth.  In addition to coaching high school baseball, he also was a private instructor at Pitcher Perfect Baseball Academy in West Monroe, LA.

Coach McGhee currently is the Youth General Manager and the High School Director of Recruiting for D-BAT Elite.

Coach McGhee is from Monroe, LA. He Played college baseball at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and helped lead them to a runner up finish in the Mississippi Junior College State Championship. He also played at Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, LA, where he served as team captain and helped lead the team to 40 wins in their inaugural season. Coach McGhee finished his playing career with 2 years at Louisiana State University- Shreveport in Shreveport, LA. While at LSU-S, he helped his team to 2 conference tournament championships, regional finals and semi-finals finishes, and 2 top 10 national rankings. Coach McGhee earn his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management.
