Coach Ylda, a Grand Prairie native, enters his 21st season as a member of the Warriors Baseball family, the last 17 of those being a member of the coaching staff. He has also served as varsity assistant, JV head coach, and freshman head coach. Ylda graduated from SGP in 2000 after playing four years as an infielder for long-time Warriors baseball coach, Frank Garner.
Ylda has spent his entire career as an educator/coach at South Grand Prairie. Since joining the coaching staff in 2005, the Warriors have been to the playoffs in fifteen out of sixteen seasons, have won four district titles (2009-2011, 2017), and have advanced as far as the Regional Quarter-Finals (2010). 2022 will be Coach Ylda’s first season as head coach.
Coach Ylda played collegiate baseball as an infielder at Northwood University from 2001-2004. He was a member of the 2003 Knights team that won the Red River Athletic Conference Championship, the first-ever for the program. He graduated in 2004 with a degree in Business Management.
Coach Ylda, 40, is married to his high school sweetheart and former SGP Chey-Anne, Candice (Class of 1999). They have a son named Talon who is the varsity team manager and live in Grand Prairie.
