Coach Mendez, a Grand Prairie native, graduated from SGP in 1998 after playing four years as an infielder/pitcher for coach, Frank Garner.
Coach Mendez has been teaching for the past 13 years in GPISD. He is currently the Principles of AV/Animation teacher at SGP.
Coach Mendez played collegiate baseball as an infielder at North Lake College and graduated from UTA in 2002 with a Communications degree in Marketing and Advertising.
Mendez is in his sixth year assisting the SGP baseball Program. He volunteers as a scout for the TX Giants select organization, works as a TCU youth baseball camp instructor and has been a private skills instructor for over 18 years.
Coach Mendez is the pitching coach for our entire program. His other responsibilities include being a sub-varsity head coach as well as assisting both JV teams and the varsity with daily operations.
Coach Mendez met his beautiful wife Katy fourteen years ago, and they have three wonderful children Natalia (23), Jonathan (15) and Ceciliana (6) and has a granddaughter Elena (1).
